The John Radcliffe Hospital, part of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, has recently installed a ceiling-mounted Artis zeeTM from Siemens Healthcare. The angiography system is located in the vascular centre and is being used for a range of procedures including vascular, iliac and fibroid embolisation. With a large number of radiographers using the system around the clock, the Artis zee was chosen for its ease of use and dose-saving features. -
24 Jul 2013New X-ray system provides rapid imaging at Congleton War Memorial Hospital
Congleton War Memorial Hospital, part of East Cheshire NHS Trust, has recently installed a Multix Fusion from Siemens Healthcare. The system replaces a previous X-ray system that had come to the end of its life. Radiographers have remarked on the system’s high resolution images and the detail that they can now perceive along with user-friendliness and its ability to provide rapid image acquisition, helping to improve examination times and patient comfort. -
24 Jul 2013Wales: Siemens receives UK’s largest direct drive order for onshore wind farm
Siemens has been chosen to supply, install and service 76 direct drive turbines at Vattenfall’s onshore wind farm Pen y Cymoedd in Wales. The wind power plant will be developed within the county boroughs of Neath Port Talbot and Rhondda Cynon Taf. The developer, Vattenfall, has contracted Siemens Wind Power to install 76 of its innovative SWP 3.0 direct drive wind turbines. The wind farm, with a total capacity of 228 megawatts (MW) will be the largest project with gearless turbines erected in Wales. It is also the largest ever contract for the Siemens 3MW direct drive turbine signed to date in the UK. -

Siemens Healthcare’s Managed Equipment Services (MES) team has been recognised with a Silver Champions Award from Siemens UK for its work in rapidly and effectively setting up an Imaging Infrastructure Support Service (IISS) at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. The award was primarily secured by Trevor Mason, MES Regional Support Manager at Siemens Healthcare who was responsible for the initial delivery of excellent levels of customer service and establishing a robust set of processes for the large-scale 13 year project. -

03 Jul 2013World’s largest offshore wind farm with 175 Siemens wind turbines inaugurated
Today marks the inauguration of the world’s largest offshore wind power plant, London Array. Siemens supplied the 175 wind turbines and the grid connection for London Array. Together with Dong Energy, Siemens will also be responsible for the service of the wind turbines through a long-term agreement. The wind power plant owned, developed and built by a consortium consisting of Dong Energy, E.ON and Masdar has a total capacity of 630 megawatts (MW) and will generate enough power to supply 500,000 British households with clean electricity. London Array will reduce annual CO2 emissions by approximately 900,000 tons, which equals the emissions of 300,000 passenger cars. -

Siemens has been awarded a contract by Manchester City Council to supply unattended bus lane enforcement cameras to sites across the city. Working with Zenco Systems, the UK's leading supplier of bus lane enforcement equipment, the solution will enable Manchester City Council to identify unauthorised vehicles using the lanes restricted for the unhindered flow of buses, capture the event and prepare an evidential record to support the issue of an enforcement notice. The cameras are redeployable and will be moved around a number of locations to provide maximum coverage. -

An enhanced version of the Siemens SLD4 loop detector family is now available from Siemens featuring sophisticated length based classification with configurable outputs which can be set to activate when specific conditions are detected, such as large vehicles exceeding a predefined speed. As well as offering standard vehicle detection the latest version of the SLD4 can also be used in specialised bus, tram and Light Rail Transport (LRT) schemes and other similar applications where excellent detection accuracy is required. -
