09 Oct 2014Castle Hill Hospital first in UK to implement latest PET-CT technology from Siemens
Castle Hill Hospital, part of Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, has recently opened The Jack Brignall Scanning Centre. The facility is the first in the UK to be fitted with a Biograph mCT Flow EdgeTM PET·CT system from Siemens Healthcare which has been funded by Hull-based charity, The Daisy Appeal. Opened by former Secretary of State for Health, Baroness Virginia Bottomley, the system is being used to conduct mostly oncological work in addition to infection scanning, vasculitis and clinical research. -

01 Oct 2014Siemens wins UK’s largest deployment of SafeZone
Transport for London (TfL) has awarded Siemens a contract to replace existing speed cameras on selected routes in the Capital with new digital average speed enforcement systems. The contract, part of TfL’s London Safety Camera Replacement Project, includes the deployment of more than 100 Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras over the next 24 months, covering four main routes across London and represents the largest roll-out of Siemens SafeZone average speed enforcement solution in an urban area anywhere in the UK. Ongoing service and maintenance will also be provided by Siemens. -

Hull Royal Infirmary, part of the Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, has enhanced its services with the installation of a SOMATOM® Definition AS+ CT system as part of a wider regeneration of its state-of-the-art Emergency Department (ED). The system from Siemens Healthcare is responsible for imaging up to 40 emergency and inpatients per day, helping the department to deal with increased throughput and supporting the hospital’s vision to provide excellent levels of care. -

Children undergoing scans at a Leeds hospital are receiving an enhanced experience as a result of the implementation of new SPECT•CT technology. Leeds General Infirmary has been able to offer significantly increased image quality and heightened diagnostic capabilities to patients following the introduction of a Symbia™ T Series SPECT•CT system from Siemens Healthcare. The system is being used by the adjoining Leeds Children’s Hospital for a range of paediatric procedures. Younger patients have found the imaging experience less intimidating due to the system’s light aesthetics and in-built DVD player to put them at ease.
