Leeds General Infirmary offers improved scanning experience to young patients with new SPECT•CT system
Children undergoing scans at a Leeds hospital are receiving an enhanced experience as a result of the implementation of new SPECT•CT technology. Leeds General Infirmary has been able to offer significantly increased image quality and heightened diagnostic capabilities to patients following the introduction of a Symbia™ T Series SPECT•CT system from Siemens Healthcare. The system is being used by the adjoining Leeds Children’s Hospital for a range of paediatric procedures. Younger patients have found the imaging experience less intimidating due to the system’s light aesthetics and in-built DVD player to put them at ease. -

New report shows UK benefits from action to meet CO2 targets
Matthew Knight, Siemens Director of Strategy and Government Affairs in our UK Energy business, is speaking today at the launch of a new report on the economics of decarbonisation. The report “Economics of Climate Change Policy in the UK”comes from Cambridge Econometrics in collaboration with University College London and WWF. The authors used a well established economic model to assess the impacts of the UK meeting the government’s targets for CO2 reduction. Reducing CO2 is an essential part of tackling climate change. The headline finding is that the UK economy is better off by taking action to reduce CO2 emissions, rather than doing nothing. -

Siemens welcomes its latest apprentices in the North of England
Siemens Subsea in Ulverston, Cumbria is proud to host for the second year running the welcome programme for the latest crop of apprentices. These new apprentices will join Siemens businesses across the North of England, including Ulverston, Manchester, Leeds and Congleton. Siemens Subsea is also taking on a record 16 apprentices this year. The apprentices will all start in September.
