Siemens in Lincoln celebrates another strong year of charitable giving
Siemens gas turbine manufacturing and service business in Lincoln is celebrating the efforts of its employees in generating another strong half year of giving to local charities. The company’s Charity and Donations Committee was established in 2012 to manage the annual budget allocated by the business to assist local charities. In the last six months the committee has agreed to donations totalling over £7,000. Since the committee was established it has donated over £27,000 to local causes. -

Siemens engages students with interactive games at the Bohunt STEM Festival
The Bohunt STEM Festival which took place this weekend was focused on exciting the next generation of young people and the wider community about the wealth of opportunities and careers available within the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) industries. The Festival is a free event for the whole community and this year 13 companies and educational establishments including Siemens, Mclaren, BP, Intech, Allianz and many others took part. -

Siemens is one of the UK’s leading apprenticeship employers and has more than 400 apprentices on its longstanding programme. As a major engineering employer in the UK, with 13,760 employees, there is little doubt that apprenticeships deliver value for Siemens. Siemens has created 160 places this year across its four sectors; Energy, Industry, Healthcare and Infrastructure and Cities. The number of new apprentices at the firm has increased by 10% from 2013. -

Siemens Healthcare launches angiography system for universal use at RSNA 2013
Siemens Healthcare has launched the Artis one, a new angiography system optimised for a broad clinical utilisation, at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). The system is ideal for routine diagnostics and interventions, with a large selection of low dose features, designed to fit a broad range of clinical requirements. Energy consumption with the new system is up to 20 percent lower than the Artis zee floor. -

Source West selects Siemens EV rapid charging technology
One of the largest Electric Vehicle (EV) projects funded by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) has been awarded to Siemens UK by Bristol City Council, South Gloucestershire Council and Gloucestershire County Council who are all members of the Source West consortium. The delivery of a complete EV charging solution from Siemens UK includes project management, site design, civil and electrical works, installation and commissioning, and three years maintenance managed by the company’s field services team. -

For record speeds both on and off the track, Infiniti Red Bull Racing is relying on Siemens software once again this season. At the team’s factory in Milton Keynes, UK, over 100 engineers are using Siemens software to redevelop the world champion racecar for Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo. New rules issued for the 2014 Formula One season by the FIA, motorsport’s global governing body, mandate wide-ranging changes in the car’s design. Siemens’ product lifecycle management (PLM) software is helping ensure their rapid implementation. -
