Siemens wins orders for major M27 junction improvements
Siemens has been selected to supply and install traffic signals and controllers for two major junction improvements schemes. The orders have been placed by civil contractors Interserve Construction Limited and Jackson Civil Engineering Limited to help alleviate the flow of traffic joining and leaving the busy M27 motorway in Hampshire at junction 3 near Southampton and junction 5 near Southampton Airport and Eastleigh. -

Siemens in Lincoln to deliver £30 million contract to South America
Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery Ltd., has announced success in securing a major contract to export Siemens industrial gas turbines to Columbia’s main oil pipeline operator, Oleoducto Central SA (OCENSA). The order is worth in excess of £30m (€40m) and consists of three SGT300 and six SGT400 turbines. -

Spire Elland increases patient recovery via ultrasound system from Siemens Healthcare
Spire Elland Hospital, part of the Spire Healthcare Group, has recently installed an ACUSON P300 from Siemens Healthcare for use across its two operating theatres. The portable system was compared to a range of other solutions and was chosen for its excellent image quality and ease of use. The hospital is now able to offer endovenous and central venous patient services which were previously unavailable. -

Paul Strickland Scanner Centre assists workflow and prostate cancer outcomes with UK’s first MAGNETOM Prisma upgrade
Paul Strickland Scanner Centre, an independent medical charity based at Mount Vernon Hospital, has recently upgraded its MR system to the UK’s first MAGNETOM® Prismafit. The upgrade, provided by Siemens Healthcare, is part of wider improvements taking place at the centre to increase throughput and reduce patient waiting times. The charity will use the high specification system for the assessment of next generation anti-cancer treatments designed to improve life expectancy and quality. As part of these ongoing enhancements, a MAGNETOM Avantofit upgrade is also currently underway. -

Leading medical charity Cobalt has unveiled a new PET-CT scanner that will significantly bolster its cancer and dementia diagnostic capabilities by overcoming the limitations of conventional systems. As a central part of the Charity’s 50th anniversary celebrations, a Biograph mCT Flow EdgeTM system from Siemens Healthcare has been installed at Cobalt’s Imaging Centre in Cheltenham following a dedicated fundraising initiative. -

Wireless option for Remote Monitoring released by Siemens
A new 3G wireless communications solution which allows Siemens Outstation Monitoring Units (OMUs) to be connected to the company's Remote Monitoring and Control System (RMS) instation has been launched by the company following successful field trials. The newly released 3G option is quick and easy to install and allows both new and existing installations to use 3G communications without the need for physically wired or fibre links and with much reduced installation and civil engineering costs. -

Siemens Audiology business is now Sivantos
Siemens has finalised the sales transaction of its hearing aid business to the investment company EQT and Germany’s Strüngmann family as co-investor. Siemens will remain invested in the new company and participate in future business development. The transaction, which was announced this past November has been completed on January 15, 2015 after obtaining regulatory approvals. The new group name is Sivantos, and worldwide affiliates of the former Siemens Audiology Solutions will be renamed accordingly. -

A hospital in North Staffordshire has been able to adapt to different patient situations and offer advanced imaging techniques following its investment in interventional radiology innovation. Royal Stoke University Hospital, part of University Hospital of the North Midlands NHS Trust, has installed both a new Artis Q zeego as well as an Artis zee multi-purpose system from Siemens Healthcare. The new technology is being used by the hospital to assist with a wide range of radiological procedures and improve patient outcomes. -

Siemens Completes Final GNGE Delivery Phase
At 07:16 on Monday 15 December, Siemens Rail Automation successfully completed Phase Two of the Great Northern Great Eastern (GNGE) programme, with the Auckley and Beech level crossings being signed into use. This work represented the final delivery stage of the GNGE project for Siemens and the conclusion of the two year programme to re-signal 86 miles of track between Doncaster and Peterborough. -
