As event partner, Siemens is once again leading from the front at Traffex 2015, the 27th edition of the biennial traffic engineering, road safety and highways maintenance exhibition held at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, UK (21-23 April 2015) and regarded as the UK’s most important traffic industry event for local authorities, contractors, civil engineers and transport network operators.

With the launch of the sixth generation ST950 intersection controller at Traffex in 2013, Siemens introduced a host of new features and new levels of controller accessibility and safety. Integral UTMC OTU, 4-stream MOVA 7, LRT functionality, Pelican, Puffin and Toucan control, easy to follow, web-style browser user interfaces and greater flexibility were just some of the ST950 highlights.

A new traffic solution that provides Pedestrian Countdown at Traffic Signals (PCaTS) is being showcased at Traffex 2015 (21-23 April) by event partner Siemens on stand number C10.

Traffic signals across the city of Leicester are to be replaced with longer-lasting, energy saving LED signals which reduce carbon emissions and operational costs, Leicester City Council announced this month and the installation work will be carried out by Siemens.

Siemens launches a brand new DC rapid electric vehicle charger and showcases further product features at both GreenFleet Scotland (10-11 April) and Traffex 2015 (21-23 April) this month, complementing the company’s proven range of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions.

Siemens will unveil a new cycle detection system at Traffex next month. WiMag Cycle Detection uses in-ground, low-power, wireless detectors and microwave radar technology to identify and count bicycles of all types, including those constructed from carbon fibre. The solution complements the company’s existing WiMag, loop and radar detection solutions.

The manufacture of the new Siemens-built, Desiro City trains for Thameslink – known as the Class 700 - is well under way, with the first train due to arrive in the UK later this year. Over 200 (out of a total of 1,140) Class 700 body shells have now been manufactured with a total of six trains completed to date.
