Siemens Commissions First Trackguard Westrace Mk2 in Scandinavia
Following the successful completion of the final stage of signalling work by Siemens, Norway’s metro transport infrastructure owner, Sporveien Oslo AS, has now commissioned into full service all four sheds for the new Avløs rail depot for Oslo’s Kolsåsbanen. These commissionings marked the final phase of the 10-year Kolsåsbane project, which has delivered new metro rail infrastructure from the centre of Oslo out to Kolsås station in the city’s western suburbs. -

Rail professionals swap pantographs for pedals in charity cycle ride - £24,000 raised for worthy causes
An 80-strong group of rail industry professionals, more used to bogies than bicycles, turned to a different mode of transport for a four-day (from 14 – 17 August) gruelling cycle ride to raise funds for charity. Covering nearly 300 miles, from Germany to the UK, the ride celebrated the successful project partnership that has led to the delivery of the first new Class 700 train set to run on the Thameslink routes. -

Major new traffic signal maintenance contract awarded in Scotland
Glasgow City Council and West Dunbartonshire Council have awarded a joint contract to Siemens to maintain roadside traffic control and information equipment for a period of up to five years, commencing 1 August 2015. The new contract includes the provision of associated ancillary support services, as well as the supply of works and services to support the Councils’ traffic control operation and periodical planned signal and optical maintenance. -

Scottish-based businesses are charging forward with Siemens
From the Highlands to the Scottish Borders, Siemens is installing and maintaining Electric Vehicle (EV) charge points for Scottish businesses. Through the ChargePlace Scotland project, 100% grant funding is available to Scottish based businesses for the installation of EV charge points for workplaces. The aim of this funding is to complement the national network of charge points being installed across Scotland to promote electric vehicle use. -

Versatile Artis zee ceiling angiography system supports efficiency gains at Conquest Hospital
Conquest Hospital, part of the East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, has recently modernised a 22-year-old interventional radiology room with the installation of an Artis zee™ ceiling-mounted angiography system from Siemens Healthcare. The system is being used in the hospital’s trauma centre, which is also being utilised as a back-up cardiac room, helping to increase efficiency and throughput at the hospital. -

Siemens opens new traffic service operation in London
Traffic technology supplier Siemens officially opens a new regional traffic service operation in London today solely dedicated to contracts in the capital placed with Siemens by Transport for London (TfL). The brand new depot in Enfield, one of 20 facilities around the country, is a strategic move by Siemens to manage all London activities from one location including two Traffic Control Maintenance Services contracts and the new Detection and Enforcement Infrastructure (D&EI) contract for TfL.
