InHealth Limited, St Peter’s Cardiac Unit utilise Siemens technology to strive towards achieving centre of excellence.
St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey’s purpose-built Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories is being showcased as a centre of excellence, with the help of an Artis zeeTM ceiling-mounted and a floor-mounted imaging system from Siemens Healthcare. The Cardiac Unit is a result of a partnership between InHealth and Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, bringing the Trust’s cardiac diagnostic facilities together under one roof. The unit has been making use of the system’s dose-saving applications that are delivered as standard with the Artis zee. -

Innovative MR technology puts the University of Glasgow at forefront of brain imaging research
The University of Glasgow has recently received significant external funding from sources including the UK Research Partnership Investment Fund (UKRPIF), ERDF, the Dr Mortimer and Theresa Sackler Foundation and the Wolfson Foundation to support investment in state-of-the-art research facilities. This includes two high-resolution imaging systems from Siemens Healthcare with a primary initial focus on brain research. The technology will provide detailed insights into the brain’s structure, function and biochemistry in order to find causes and new treatments into various conditions. The technology includes a powerful MAGNETOM® 7T MR system, the first of its kind to be installed in a clinical setting in the UK, and a MAGNETOM 3T MR. -

Annual Dementia Conference in Cheltenham calls for “earlier and more accurate diagnosis” of growing disease
Leading medical charity Cobalt has held its inaugural annual Dementia Conference, attracting over 100 healthcare professionals involved in the diagnosis and care of dementia patients, including radiologists, neurologists, psychiatrists, and nursing staff. Held in conjunction with Siemens Healthcare, the event saw educational institutions share research findings and important discussion take place on the disease, as the charity continues to support efforts to improve dementia diagnosis rates through its PET/CT technology. -

Throughput at Northwick Park’s A&E department boosted by three digital radiography systems
A new Accident and Emergency Department has recently been launched at Northwick Park Hospital, part of London North West Healthcare NHS Trust. The department has installed three Ysio digital radiography systems from Siemens Healthcare to help provide a 24 hour emergency service 365 days a year. The systems are being used to treat a range of patients attending the Emergency Department and Urgent Care Centre. The radiographers have commented on the systems’ ease-of-use which has aided them in working quickly and efficiently, along with excellent image quality. le -

Advanced ultrasound technology supports low cost and safe liver screening in the workplace
Siemens Healthcare recently held a liver disease awareness and screening day at its UK head office in Frimley, Surrey as part of the British Liver Trust’s Love Your Liver campaign. The day provided employees with information on liver disease to promote good health and the opportunity to participate in liver screening using its advanced ultrasound technology. The event follows statistics from the British Liver Trust showing 20% of the population to be at risk of liver disease due to factors including alcohol, obesity and viral hepatitis. -

Siemens Healthcare has launched its new portable and compact ACUSON P500TM ultrasound system, FROSK edition, enabling rapid imaging even in difficult scanning conditions. The hand-held technology can be easily carried and positioned in a range of clinical environments and is ready to image in less than 30 seconds, making it ideal for emergency settings. The system introduces two new advanced technologies that ensure sharp ultrasound images, regardless of patient and probe motion. -

New wireless cycle detection system launched by Siemens
A new cycle detection system that uses in-ground, low-power, wireless detectors launched by Siemens is on show at Taffex 2015. WiMag Cycle Detection uses microwave radar technology to identify and count bicycles of all types, including those constructed from carbon fibre. The solution complements the company’s existing WiMag, loop and radar detection solutions. -
