Royal Shrewsbury Hospital improves patient experience and expands cardiac services with Siemens CT technology
Following an increase in patient referrals, Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, part of The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, has expanded its CT provision. To improve patient experience and streamline services the hospital sought to add a further imaging system to the CT department and upgrade the existing one. This resulted in the recent installation of a SOMATOM® Definition AS+ 128 slice CT system and the planned installation of a Definition AS 64 slice CT system from Siemens Healthcare. -

Celebrating ‘Inspire Engineering’ success
Volunteer engineering ‘ambassadors’ from Siemens and Transport for London (TfL) joined forces this week to celebrate the success of London Transport Museum’s Inspire Engineering programme, which will have fired the imaginations of more than 3,000 children through creative workshops – a 35 per cent increase in reach when compared to the last the academic year. This will mean more children than ever before will have experienced a high-quality introduction into the world of engineering. -

Siemens receives order for offshore wind power
Siemens has received a further order for an offshore wind power plant located in Great Britain: Siemens is to supply, erect and commission 91 of its 6MW direct drive wind turbines with performance enhancing features enabling a capacity of up to approx. 580 MW in total. The wind turbines with a rotor diameter of 154 meters are slated for the Race Bank project of DONG Energy. Installation of the turbines is to commence during the spring of 2017. -

Siemens Healthcare has launched a unique new mobile application at UKRC 2015, the leading diagnostic imaging event in the UK, designed to provide education and relieve possible fears surrounding MRI scans for both children and adults. The MRI Scan app offers a 360 degree virtual MRI scan with realistic sounds, preparing patients for what to expect prior to a scan. The app is designed to improve the patient experience and optimise procedure workflow while reducing the number of cancelled MRI appointments. -
