Guernsey approves a new electricity strategy
- The States of Guernsey has approved a new electricity strategy for the Island, developed in partnership with Siemens, as it aims to enhance its electricity system to meet a predicted increase in demand, and support the Island’s net-zero ambition.
- The agreed plan outlines a strategic direction based on additional interconnection, on-island renewables in the form of solar PV and offshore renewables.
- The new strategic direction will also reduce costs, with forecast running costs for existing infrastructure set to be more expensive than adopting a new supply pathway.

Siemens digital twin set to drive world’s first carbon neutral wastewater treatment plant
- Severn Trent Water-led project targets the removal of nitrous oxide, a greenhouse gas 300x more potent than CO2 and globally accounts for 82 MtCO2e
- The programme will deploy cutting-edge technology to capture and cut emissions from the wastewater treatment process, including Siemens gPROMS digital twin.
- The project, ‘The Net Zero Hub’, won £10m funding from the Ofwat Innovation Fund and will be completed by 2024.
