The Siemens sector Healthcare has developed the consulting model “Act on Radiology” to help improve workflows in radiology departments. Based on models for industry processes, an expert team from Siemens evaluates the maturity level of clinical processes in a hospital radiology department or radiology practice. For example, the experts evaluate the efficiency of workflows from admissions to a completed patient report. With the help of a database containing international guidelines and the reference values from the world’s leading hospitals, the Siemens consultants then develop suitable measures for improvement. -
06 Jun 2011Siemens to create up to 340 new green engineering jobs in the North West
Siemens Transmission and Distribution Ltd, based in Manchester, has announced that it will create up to 340 new jobs in its Projects business, focused on the design and build of transmission systems to connect countries’ power networks to new energy sources, especially offshore wind. The majority of these roles will be based at the brand new purpose built facility, currently under construction at Princess Park, Manchester. The new state-of-the-art building, which will be called The Renewable Energy Engineering Centre will house Siemens Global Centre of Competence for High Voltage Grid Connections (HVDC). The Centre will focus on design and build of HVDC transmission systems for the UK and North West Europe, in particular to meet the expanding needs of the Renewables market. This latest investment represents the ongoing commitment by Siemens to the UK and to North West England. The HVDC engineering centre will be the first of its kind outside Germany. -

25 May 2011Siemens helps to put London at the forefront of the electric vehicle revolution
Source London, launched officially today by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, will provide a network of publicly accessible charge points across London. Any vehicle that is licensed with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency as a pure electric or a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, including motorbikes, cars, vans, trucks and scooters will be able to use Source London. Customers can use one membership card to open charge points across the whole city and charge their vehicle for an annual flat rate of GBP100 including electricity. The aim is to have 1,300 charging points by 2013. Source London is expected to attract thousands of electric vehicle drivers over the next three years. -

07 Apr 2011Siemens to deliver first direct drive wind turbines in the UK for Community Windpower
Siemens has today announced delivery of the first SWT3.0-101 Direct Drive technology wind turbines to the UK. The six wind turbines will be delivered to Community Windpower Ltd, a UK based community windfarm developer. Installation is planned to commence in December 2011 with commissioning complete in early 2012. The wind turbines will be supported with a 15 year service agreement from Siemens.
