Siemens Industry Automation & Drive Technologies (IA&DT), which produces operationally and energy efficient solutions for a wide range of industries, was presented with its award at the UK Excellence Awards 2011 ceremony which took place on Thursday 13 October at the InterContinental London Park Lane.
This is the third year where Siemens IA&DT has been a finalist at these prestigious awards marking its journey to excellence using the EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) model.
The judges from the British Quality Foundation highlighted that Siemens’ ‘Power of One’ business strategy pervades everything, and there is clear and inspirational leadership from the MD and the senior management team. Strong leadership and accountability cascades from the senior management team down to the wider management group, who were critical to the development of the vision and mission and who also effectively role model them.
Juergen Maier, managing director, Siemens Industry UK, said: "This award is genuinely one of the highest accolades any organisation in the UK can achieve and we are very proud to be working with a great team who we know have all pulled together to achieve this outstanding result. We would like to extend our particular thanks to Sue Bagguley and her team for all their dedication and hard work through the submission process and to acknowledge the efforts of the extended team past and present who helped to make this happen. This makes us officially one of the Best Companies in the UK."
Sue Bagguley, head of business excellence & programme management at Siemens, said: “Because we are communicating strongly with our workforce and they feel invested in our success as a business, motivation is at an all-time high.”
Joe Goasdoué, Chief Executive of the BQF, said: “Winning the UK Excellence Award is a fantastic achievement for any organisation. By demonstrating exceptional organisational excellence, Siemens Industry Automation and Drive Technologies has now joined the elite club of UK Excellence Award winners.”
Launched in 1994, the UK Excellence Award recognises organisations which have demonstrated excellence in all areas of operation, and uses the EFQM Excellence Model as its criteria for success.
Siemens IA&DT is one of three organisations to win the 2011 Award – the other two are Bishop Burton College and St Anne’s Primary School in Derry Northern Ireland.
Siemens’ Motion Controls Division based in Congleton was also a finalist at the awards in the Sustainable Future category with its 'Think Green' campaign.
