Contract to connect offshore Lincs wind farm to UK grid
Siemens has been awarded a major order with Lincs Wind Farm Ltd to implement the grid connection for the Lincs offshore wind farm. Siemens Energy will also supply its latest high-performance 3.6MW wind turbines, each with a rotor diameter of 120 metres. When operational, the Lincs wind farm will provide green power for homes in the East of England, contributing towards a significant reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. -

Mayor unveils plan for £30m Siemens Pavilion
The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, the chief executive of Siemens, Andreas J. Goss and the Mayor of Newham Borough Council, Sir Robin Wales, today announced a plan for Siemens to invest £30 million in a new landmark building in East London, comprising an exhibition and conference centre. This is set to be built and operational by early 2012 and is the flagship of a new Green Enterprise District announced by the Mayor today. -

Siemens announces today that it has signed a three-year partnership agreement with Tyne Metropolitan college, in North Tyneside to support the college’s efforts in attracting students towards the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects. The cooperation agreement is an excellent example of Siemens’ commitment to education and skills training and adds to its already extensive record of support and engagement, which the company offers to local schools, colleges and universities in the region, as well as nationally.
