The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, the chief executive of Siemens, Andreas J. Goss and the Mayor of Newham Borough Council, Sir Robin Wales, today announced a plan for Siemens to invest £30 million in a new landmark building in East London, comprising an exhibition and conference centre. This is set to be built and operational by early 2012 and is the flagship of a new Green Enterprise District announced by the Mayor today.

Siemens announces today that it has signed a three-year partnership agreement with Tyne Metropolitan college, in North Tyneside to support the college’s efforts in attracting students towards the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects. The cooperation agreement is an excellent example of Siemens’ commitment to education and skills training and adds to its already extensive record of support and engagement, which the company offers to local schools, colleges and universities in the region, as well as nationally.

Siemens is the lead sponsor of BASELondon which takes place at the new Capital Suite at ExCeL centre, London on the 27th May. The event will be opened by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson and is focused on the sustainability agenda for London.
