Over just three days in August and September, a team of 18 volunteers from Siemens Mobility’s Chippenham site helped transform the outdoor space at The Rise Trust Pre-School at Spring Rise in Chippenham. After completely clearing the existing overgrown garden and play areas, the team replaced the playground surface and installed new equipment.
Paul Chesman, Project Director Wales and West at Siemens Mobility said: “This was a fantastic project to be involved in and we are delighted to have been able to support the Rise Trust in the work they do across North Wiltshire and here in Chippenham.
“Although we have had some different names over the years, our business has had a base in Chippenham since 1894 and we welcome opportunities to work with our neighbours. Projects such as this are a great example of the community coming together to deliver a really valuable and worthwhile result.”
Lynn Evans, CEO at The Rise Trust said: “Everyone here would like to send their heartfelt thanks to the Siemens Mobility team.
“The children certainly love their new play area, with the equipment painted in welcoming and vibrant colours, and new elements such as sandpits, benches, climbing frames and mud kitchens all generously donated. And all this was done with constant smiles on the faces of the volunteers, even when it was raining!”
The resulting bright and airy space is designed to excite the children’s imagination and aid their cognitive development. There has been some fantastic feedback from the children saying that they "love the big slide” and “riding bikes on the grass”.
