UK ambassador to Vienna visits Siemens plant

On Thursday 12th May, Siemens welcomed the UK Ambassador to Austria, Susan le Jeune d'Allegeershecque, along with senior officials from UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) on a visit to its facility in Vienna.

Frimley, UK, 2016-May-16

The Siemens Vienna facility has particular expertise in metros and underground transport on a global basis and is the headquarters of the Siemens Urban Transport business. The Ambassador toured the facility and met key workers on the factory floor who are responsible for logistics, bodyshell construction, surface finishing, electrical and final assembly right through to commissioning. She was able to hear first-hand about the Siemens Urban Transport business and the expertise of Siemens in the UK.

The UKTI investment teams in Vienna and London have been working with Siemens to identify UK component suppliers who would be able to deliver capabilities for future rolling stock opportunities. Touring the Vienna plant helped the group further understand the requirements of such suppliers.

Sandra Gott-Karlbauer, CEO of Urban Transport at Siemens, said: “Siemens was honoured to welcome the UK Ambassador to Vienna to our factory and we hope that she found the visit enjoyable and informative. We are delighted to be able to support UKTI and are pleased to help them understand further Siemens’ global metros expertise and our UK footprint.”

Susan le Jeune d’Allegeershecque, UK-Ambassador to Austria, said: “Visiting the Siemens Vienna facility has been a fascinating experience and valuable insight for my UK Trade & Investment team in Vienna as they continue to work with Siemens to identify new UK component suppliers and developing into supply chain opportunities for British business.”
