The awards ceremony was organised by Heathrow to recognise significant achievement in safety within the work environment. The event was open to all Contractors working on Capital Projects across the airport campus. The award was presented to Paul King, Head of HSQE on behalf of Siemens by Heathrow’s Chief Operating Officer, Normand Boivin. Paul King proudly stated that this prestigious award clearly recognises the company’s proactive approach to health and safety that has enabled Siemens to deliver performance and service of the highest standard throughout 2012.

Heathrow Development Director, John Holland-Kaye stated that the standard of all submissions was extremely high and for Siemens to be honoured with the top award is a fantastic achievement for the business, a great credit to every individual involved and something they should all be extremely proud of.

In 2012, Siemens completed one million man hours worked without a reportable incident or lost time injury in almost 2 years. The company’s innovative Zero Harm programme is central to the Siemens way of doing things – avoiding significant injury or loss – and individuals’ positive attitude to safety habits also plays a significant part in embedding the right culture into the business.

In 2012, Siemens also opened its prestigious new UK Headquarters at No. 1 World Business Centre, Heathrow Airport, and the company won the Airport Operators Association Award for Best Service Provider 2012 for the performance of the Heathrow Terminal 4 (T4) project team.
