Siemens wins new turbine and service order at Lochluichart

In July 2011, Siemens announced the signing of the UK’s largest order for direct drive wind turbines, with a new contract to supply 17 direct drive turbines for Eneco Wind UK, at Lochluichart wind farm in the Scottish Highlands. This 51MW project is the largest investment to for Eneco Wind UK, a subsidiary of Eneco Wind in the Netherlands. The new order will increase number of turbines to 23 with a total capacity of 69MW. Siemens Service Renewables will also provide a Long Term Programme service extension for 15 to 20 years, extending the current agreement.

Guy Madgwick, director of Eneco Wind UK said: “The construction of the existing Lochluichart Wind Farm has been progressing well and we look forward to developing the consented 18MW extension in tandem. The entire 69MW scheme will be in operation by the end of 2013, signifying the largest investment to date for Eneco in Scotland. We are pleased to be working with Siemens on this significant venture.”
