This is the second contract to be signed with Velocita following the Maerdy wind farm order last year in Wales. The farm is located next to the neighbouring Whitelee wind farm near Glasgow, one of the largest developments in Europe, which includes Siemens wind turbines.
Alan Baker from Velocita said:
“This is an important project for Velocita in terms of the continuing development of our UK portfolio and it will make a valuable contribution to meeting the Scottish Government’s renewables target. We look forward to working with the Siemens team again on this new development.”
Commenting on the new contract, Nick Ward, head of sales, Siemens Wind Power Onshore GB&I said:
"We are delighted to have won this second order with Velocita, which will support the further development of its UK portfolio. Siemens has a strong track record in the onshore sector and especially in Scotland and the new order demonstrates confidence in our technology and service offering and teams. We look forward to working with Velocita on this new project"
Turbine deliveries will commence through the port of King George V, Glasgow, in mid- 2014 and the wind farm is due for completion by Autumn 2014.
