Siemens welcomes Department for Transport announcement on increased investment for rail infrastructure

Steve Scrimshaw, Managing Director of Siemens Rail Systems, commented: We wholeheartedly welcome the announcement made today by the Department for Transport confirming increased funding for the UK rail industry. Continuing to invest in such a vital part of our infrastructure can only reap positive benefits in the future - for passengers, for businesses, for the rail supply industry and for the UK economy as a whole.

“There is a real opportunity for our Government to kick start major economic growth by linking areas of the country efficiently and using vital transport arteries to 'join the dots' geographically and economically. Such long term and continued investment in the rail industry is not a 'nice to have', it is essential."
