Siemens welcomes Academy of St. Martin in the Fields appointment of Joshua Bell

The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields’ Principal Sponsor, Siemens, today welcomed the news of Joshua Bell’s appointment as Music Director of the Academy. Siemens announced a three year sponsorship for the internationally renowned chamber orchestra in early September 2010 with the aim of enabling the Academy of St Martin in the Fields to continue its long tradition of touring throughout the UK and worldwide every year.

Andreas J. Goss, Chief Executive, Siemens plc and North West Europe, said: “Our sponsorship of the Academy of St Martin the Fields is an important partnership for Siemens. The Academy is one of the leading chamber orchestras in the world and has achieved its reputation with the pioneering leadership of Sir Neville Marriner. We believe that the appointment of the exceptional violinist, Joshua Bell, as Music Director, will strengthen this world-class position. We have enjoyed working with the Academy and look forward to continuing to support the orchestra as this exciting new chapter in their history unfolds.”

Siemens has supported a number of concerts with Joshua Bell in the current season, as part of an annual programme of sponsored concerts in the UK and successful tours to the USA and throughout Europe and in particular, Germany. The sponsorship also extends to supporting the Academy’s Outward Sound education and community programme.

Anna Rowe, Chief Executive of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields said: “We remain extremely grateful to Siemens for this three year sponsorship. The company’s financial support is enabling the Academy to develop and expand our artistic programme. Today’s announcement of our new Music Director is at the heart of these developments. We look forward to sharing in our success with Siemens.”
