Siemens unveils Senior Management team for Building Technologies division in the UK

Engineering and technology expert Siemens has confirmed the appointment of Barry Glew as Managing Director of its Building Technologies (BT) division in the UK. Barry is joined on the executive team by Lee Shimwell who takes on the role of Finance Director. Both appointments are effective immediately.

In his newly expanded role, Barry will drive the continued growth of the division which comprises the Low Voltage (including Electrium), Control Products & Systems, Security Solutions and Fire Safety business units.

Holding a degree in electronics and electrical engineering, Barry has more than 20 years senior-level expertise with Siemens gained both in the UK and in Germany. His career in the Building Technologies industry began in 2008 when he was appointed Managing Director of Electrium, one of the UK’s leading electrical groups that was acquired by Siemens in 2006. Barry will continue to also have overall management responsibility for Electrium and will be based at the company’s headquarters in Cannock, Staffordshire.

A qualified Chartered Accountant, Lee Shimwell joined the Siemens Mergers & Acquisitions team in 2001. He moved to the Building Technologies division in 2005 as Divisional Controller for the company’s Security Solutions business and was appointed Finance Director of Electrium in 2008. Lee will split his time between Cannock and Siemens’ UK headquarters in Frimley, Surrey.
