Siemens to launch next generation ANPR camera at Traffex 2017

Siemens, a global leader in traffic management technology, will launch Sicore ll, its next generation ANPR camera platform at Traffex 2017 at the NEC, Birmingham (4-6 April) on stand C10. Sicore ll is based on more than 30 years experience in vision detection and analytics and the company’s success in the ANPR market with the original Sicore camera.

Poole, UK, 2017-Mar-27

Robust, reliable and built to last, Sicore ll has been purposefully designed for average speed control and enforcement, low emission or clean air zones and access control. It represents a significant step change in performance from traditional ANPR cameras.

According to James Riley, Siemens global product marketing manager for Enforcement Solutions, Sicore ll is designed with future-proof features for the evolving ANPR market and represents the future of enforcement supporting many countries across the world. “The new Sicore ll platform is modular and scalable delivering the highest-quality, evidentially-secure images in all conditions both day and night, and features a powerful quad core processor and integrated state-of-the-art ANPR vision engine”, he said.

Modern and distinctive, Sicore II is a compact and streamlined extrusion design. Integrated antennas support multiple communications options, including H.264 streaming for true multi-use ANPR without interruption, 3G/4G communications and dedicated Wi-Fi connectivity for secure and simple commissioning. In addition, the in-built Virtual Private Network (VPN) facilitates safe remote connection without the need for external communication devices and delivers the highest levels of secure evidence data.

Using the latest camera sensors (with a much greater depth of field and sensitivity) enables reading plates easily at a variety of distances, full range of speeds, environmental and lighting conditions, Sicore ll uses large dynamic-range image sensors at up to 40 frames per second. They produce very impressive results of excellent image quality for both infrared and colour visible overview. Sicore ll is also capable of three lane coverage (9.5m) with a single camera, processing up to 2500 fast-moving vehicles per lane per hour and, uniquely, it provides reliable operation at temperatures between -30° C and +60°C.

“It is such a critical time in the ANPR industry where technologies are evolving and communication between devices is becoming more essential in providing smart city solutions and enforcement as a service. Sicore ll has been designed and built in Poole, UK with the expert knowledge and capability of our Global Centre of Competence for enforcement and more than ten years involvement in Congestion Charging for London”, concluded Riley.

At Traffex 2017, Siemens will also be unveiling a number of exciting new developments, in particular Plus+, a new generation of traffic controller and signals.
