Siemens supports the festive spirit in Lincoln

For the third year in a row, Siemens, Lincoln’s largest private-sector employer is again the core sponsor of the Santa Fun Run and Walk - one of the City’s main Christmas charity initiatives.

Lincoln, 2012-Dec-10

Siemens is the largest private employer in Lincoln employing over 1,500 people at several sites across the county where it manufactures and services small gas turbines. As part of its ongoing commitment to support the local community, Siemens has developed a corporate sponsorship programme and small team dedicated to assisting nominated local charities. The Santa Fun Run and Walk has been an integral part of Siemens’ sponsorship programme over the past three years and is supported both by a financial contribution from the company and a commitment from the business to engage employees.

John Hunt, head of finance at Siemens in Lincoln said:

"Siemens is delighted to be the main sponsor for the Lincoln Santa Fun Run and Walk again this year. We've been involved in the event for the last few years and every year it grows both in the number of people taking part and the amount of money raised for charity. Last year's total of over £42,000 raised for the nominated charities was a huge achievement but we want to top that figure this year and the interest to date seems to suggest that we will be able to do that.”

Last year, Siemens had over 70 Santas in its team. This year Siemens has set itself a target of 100 and is encouraging employees along with their friends and family to register to take part. Neil French, a Siemens’ employee an avid supporter of the event said: “It is brilliant to be part of the Fun Run. It is a great day out and everyone gets involved, whether as runner, walker or bystander, helping to raise money for a range of local causes. I wouldn’t miss it for anything.”
Siemens is also looking to beat its sponsorship total from last year which was £2,700 contributing to the overall total raised in 2011of over £42,000.

In addition to its support of the Santa Fun Run, this year’s Siemens corporate charities also include Lincoln City Football Club and the Drill Hall.
