Siemens supports generation of clean energy at Carno II wind farm in mid-Wales

Today Siemens and Amegni celebrated the signing of a new service agreement for the Carno II wind farm near Newtown, Mid-Wales. The renewal will retain the services of Siemens in maintaining the 12 SWT1.3MW turbines at the site. Carno II wind farm was developed by three local farmers under their company ‘Amegni’ and has an installed capacity of 15.6 MW. The site generates enough clean energy to annually meet the needs of 11,000 homes with clean renewable energy.

Today Siemens and Amegni celebrated the signing of a new service agreement for the Carno II wind farm near Newtown, Mid-Wales. The renewal will retain the services of Siemens in maintaining the 12 SWT1.3MW turbines at the site. Carno II wind farm was developed by three local farmers under their company ‘Amegni’ and has an installed capacity of 15.6 MW. The site generates enough clean energy to annually meet the needs of 11,000 homes with clean renewable energy.

The wind farm, has been serviced by Siemens experienced ‘Hub 06’ team for the past five years. Yesterday's signing of a full service package was for a further 15 years and covers all scheduled and unscheduled service and warranty work on the 12 turbines.

Sion Thomas of Amegni said,

Amegni and Siemens have worked closely over the past five years in maintaining and operating the Carno II wind farm to the highest standards, and we look forward to continuing with this good working relationship. Siemens has a strong employment presence in mid Wales including employing a number of local apprentices. We see this contract as being key to maintaining these high quality long term jobs in the local area which in turn benefit the local communities and economy of mid Wales.”.

Siemens employs 20 local people in mid Wales, there are 12 Siemens technicians and 8 operational staff in all and this underlines the strong regional presence and commitment that Siemens has to the area.
