Siemens Subsea fundraising frenzy

Employees at Siemens Subsea in Ulverston, Cumbria have had an action packed 2013 taking part in some of the county’s most challenging sporting events to raise money for local and national charities. With almost 90 employees involved in events throughout the year the Subsea business has raised over £6,000 whilst also getting fit in the process.

In under eight months Ulverston employees have taken part in the Keswick to Barrow running event, the London Marathon, the Fred Whitton Challenge, Bob Graham Round, Manchester to Blackpool cycle event, Lakeland 50, Total Warrior, Ironman with It’s a knockout and a Triathlon also in the pipeline.

Mike Jones a design engineer at Siemens took part in the Lakeland 50 and also achieved a phenomenal time in the Bob Graham Round. The event is a circuit of 42 fells in the English Lake District including the 3,000 foot peaks of Skiddaw, Helvellyn, Scafell and Scafell Pike. Mike Jones managed to complete the round in an astounding 22 hours and 33 minutes. Any contender that traverses the fells of the event within 24 hours is eligible for membership of the Bob Graham Club. Not only did Mike complete in qualifying time but also raised £700 for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
