Siemens staff in Lincoln give over £50,000 for charity

Since the beginning of 2014, big-hearted staff at Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery in Lincoln have Walked the Walk, gone the extra mile, and had their cake and eaten it, all in the name of charity.

Supporting causes as diverse as the British Heart Foundation, the Samaritans and St Barnabas Hospice – based in Lincoln itself – the baking, running, red-wearing and moonwalking employees have raised in excess of an impressive £8500.

Outstanding individual efforts include Mark Quince’s London Marathon fundraising, which raised £1594 in support of Cystic Fibrosis and the £575 raised by staff wearing red clothes to support Ramp up the Red day, for the British Heart Foundation (BHF). Raising this amount put Siemens staff in the top 5% of BHF fundraisers.

Staff have shown their support for some charities more than once; a dress down day in April raised a further £550 for St Barnabas Hospice.

Aside from staff members’ activities to raise money, Siemens in Lincoln has a Charity and Donations committee that manages the annual allocation of funds from the business to local charities. Established in 2012, the committee has already donated a staggering £50,000.

Charities that have benefitted include the Lincolnshire and Notts Air Ambulance, Cleethorpes and Grimsby Riding School for the Disabled and Lincoln Refuge.

Managing Director of Siemens in Lincoln, Neil Corner says, “I’m incredibly proud of what our staff do to give something back to Lincoln and the wider community. Whether through their own individual efforts or through our Charity and Donations committee, they’ve made huge positive contributions, something that the business is delighted to encourage and support.”
