Siemens showcases subterranean 3D street art
- Innovative artwork to feature in Covent Garden and Royal Victoria Docks
- Visitors encouraged to participate in world famous artists’ creation
Next month (September) sees Siemens, widely known for engineering innovation, showcase creativity of a different type - using paintbrushes and chalks - as the company engages world famous artists 3D Joe and Max to create a ‘pavement Picasso’ masterpiece on the streets of London.
The unique artwork, which will replicate a Siemens Inspiro concept underground train travelling in tunnels under the city streets, has been designed to promote the forthcoming ‘Going Underground: Our journey to the future’ exhibition. Developed by Siemens in conjunction with London Transport Museum and CBS Outdoor UK, the free exhibition will showcase possible future developments in underground rail travel and will feature a life size mock up of a brand new metro train at its heart. It will be located at The Crystal in Royal Victoria Docks and will open its doors to the public for three months from 8th October 2013.
For the past eight years, 3D Joe (Hill) and Max (Lowry) (www.3djoeandmax.com) have travelled the world creating their individual artworks. The anamorphic paintings are designed to encourage audience interaction, with the Siemens three-dimensional masterpiece enabling visitors to have their picture taken ‘balancing’ on a narrow scaffold beam above the train as it travels through the underground tunnel below.
3D Joe and Max will be creating their masterpiece at:
• Royal Victoria Docks (at The Crystal, Siemens Brothers Way) from 2.00pm on 3rd and 4th
September 2013
• Covent Garden Piazza (outside London Transport Museum) from 2.00pm on 20th Septem-
ber 2013.
