Accepting the award, Dr. Andrew Robinson, Managing Director of Siemens Logistics and
Airport Solutions, said: ‘this award is a testament to the skill and dedication of the whole
team working on the Heathrow Terminal 4 hold baggage screening project and reflection
of what Siemens is doing day-in, day-out across our project portfolio.
Earlier this year, the company’s Heathrow Terminal 4 (T4) project team successfully
delivered all phases of the T4 Hold Baggage Screening (HBS) X-ray upgrade program
for BAA. The total programme extended over a long period and involved managing
numerous operational interfaces, airline moves and other project work in the baggage
hall.
Siemens has demonstrated over many years its logistics expertise and operational
support at some of the world’s busiest international airports. From Beijing to Madrid, the
company has a proven track record for the operation and maintenance of a number of
baggage handling systems and the technical capacity to integrate and improve systems
and technology.
In addition to the completion of new baggage handling facilities at Heathrow’s Terminal 4
last month and the installation of new IT systems, the company’s activities have taken a
significant upturn recently in terms of providing UK-based operators of leading
international transport hubs and regional airports with operational, service and technical
support. In turn, the number of employees in the Logistics and Airport Solutions
business has also increased significantly to more than 180.
