The awards assessors praised the commitment of staff, and the “enthusiastic and positive atmosphere,” and the "culture of openness and involvement." David Teale, chief executive of North of England Excellence, said:
“The winners are all examples of outstanding Northern businesses committed to best practice and innovation. This year we have seen a record number of awards applications and are detecting an increased interest by companies in using the principles of business excellence to improve competitiveness. Our winners will testify to the fact that business excellence not only improves quality and performance but also directly benefits the bottom line.”
Graham Hartley, divisional director, Siemens Energy Service in Newcastle collected the award and commented:
“We are delighted to receive this award for our work. Siemens has a long-standing presence in the North East and makes a major contribution to the local economy, skills and jobs. Receiving this award is testimony to the efforts and commitment of every employee within the business.
