The Siemens Academy Training and Education Centre at Sir William Siemens Square, Frimley, was officially opened by Andreas J. Goss, Chief Executive of Siemens, UK and North West Europe, on September 10th.
Representatives from 20 large NHS Trusts joined Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics staff at the ribbon cutting ceremony to open the 700m2 facility.
The centre comprises seven fully equipped training suites, which can train up to 42 people at a time across the complete Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics product range. The comprehensive training courses to take place there will cover haematology, molecular testing, microbiology or point-of-care testing.
Siemens hopes to be able to open the facility for a special school visit in November, where local school children will be able to learn about equipment used in blood testing and the role of pathologists in diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
