United Kingdom, 2006-Oct-27
Siemens Medical Solutions has been declared overall winner of the UK Business Excellence Award 2006 in the large commercial category by the British Quality Foundation.
The business received the accolade for its application of criteria and methodology for the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) excellence model , following an independent assessment in the summer.
In addition to the main award, the business also won special awards for Process Improvement and Employee Excellence. Last year it won a special award for Customer Excellence.
The EFQM excellence model describes organisational excellence regardless of sector, size, structure or maturity. It is the most widely used organisational excellence model inEurope and is the basis for many national and regional quality awards. To be successful, it states that organisations need to establish an appropriate management system.
EFQM is a practical tool to help organisations do this, by measuring where they are on the path to excellence, helping them understand the gaps and stimulating solutions.
It comprises nine elements: leadership; policy and strategy; people; partnerships and resources; processes; customer results; people results; society results; and key performance results.
