Siemens makes major donation to the Oxford Children’s Hospital Cancer Ward

Siemens Medical Solutions and Magnet Technology donate £30,000

United Kingdom, 2006-Feb-22

Siemens Medical Solutions and Siemens Magnet Technology, through its ‘Caring Hands’ charitable and community support scheme, recently made a combined £30,000 donation to the Oxford Children’s Hospital Appeal, to provide additional funding for a children’s General Surgical Ward as part of the new Oxford Children’s Hospital currently being built in the grounds of the John Radcliffe Hospital.

The cheques were handed over to Mrs Felicity Waley-Cohen, a major supporter and Ms Emma Franklin of the Oxford Children’s Hospital Campaign by Guenter Dombrowe, Managing Director of Siemens Medical Solutions and Arthur Kaindl, Managing Director of Siemens Magnet Technology.

Guenter Dombrowe said: “Each year, Siemens Medical Solutions makes a significant donation to a particular charity in addition to numerous smaller donations throughout the year. This year, the Oxford Children’s Hospital was chosen as we were touched by the personal tragedy of one of our major customers who lost his son to cancer.

In addition, the local Siemens Magnet Technology business had already established a bond with the Oxford Children’s unit through supporting and working with them over a long period. Arthur Kaindl said: “Our support is not only financial but includes various volunteer activities committed by our staff as part of our local community support.”

About Caring Hands

Caring Hands is one element of Siemens' corporate responsibility drive. It is the name for its scheme covering all community activities, focusing on volunteering, disaster relief and supporting or donating funds to good causes.

Many Siemens sites have charity committees so employees can make regular donations, matched by the company, to a community fund and decide to which good causes the money should be allocated.
