London, 2012-Oct-03
The Best Factory Awards (BFA) is now in its 21st year and is one of the most sought after manufacturing awards within the UK. The awards are run in partnership between Works Management magazine and Cranfield School of Management. The ceremony took place at London's Park Lane Sheraton Hotel and attracted an audience of over 300 manufacturing leaders.
Ralph Seidler, Director Supply Chain Management at Siemens Magnet Technology, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for all of the staff at SMT. The BFA judging criteria is particularly focused on being able to demonstrate that the workforce reflects the business Mission and Values. That is why winning this wide range of awards from process innovation to skills development and for the work we doing with our supply chain is so important.
“The icing on the cake was to beat such a large field of other businesses to be awarded 'Best Engineering Plant'. This reinforces that we continue to make progress as a business and that our continuous improvement culture is impacting all areas of what we do. These prestigious awards are a reflection of all the hard work of everyone at SMT and we are rightly very proud of this achievement.”
Craig Marshall, Managing Director of Siemens Magnet Technology, said: “Picking up Best Engineering Plant out of the 100 or so entries this year was particularly pleasing. The assessment process is especially tough; the judges deliberately limited their time in front of the senior management team and spent the majority of their time and resources on the shop floor talking to the technicians and the guys running our three shift operations at Eynsham.
“These new awards for Siemens Magnet Technology, SMT, are a reflection of the journey the company has been on since its formation in 2003. The life blood of SMT is challenge and continuous improvement which have resulted in driving up productivity through increasing efficiency, instilling and incentivizing a sustainable culture of continuous improvement, all of which is backed up with rigorous skills training.“
