According to Dr. Andrew Robinson, Managing Director of Siemens Logistics and Airport Solutions, the investment forms part of ongoing, long term expansion plans to enhance a UK customer-focused range of airport logistics and postal automation solutions and services, and offer exceptional value to customers.
‘This is a significant event in the history of Siemens in the UK, showing continued investment by Siemens plc and further reinforcing the commitment of Siemens to the aviation and postal sectors’, he said.
‘Having centralised the company’s engineering and solution teams, test facilities and management alongside the latest technology, the new HQ is perfectly placed and well equipped to serve the business and both its aviation and postal services customers’, added Dr Robinson.
In addition to the completion of new baggage handling facilities at Heathrow’s Terminal 4 last month and the installation of new IT systems, the company’s activities have taken a significant upturn recently in terms of providing UK-based operators of leading international transport hubs and regional airports with operational, service and technical support. In turn, the number of employees at the company has also increased significantly to more than 180 employees.
