The business, which designs and manufactures superconducting magnets for medical scanners used around the world, has been recognised by Her Majesty the Queen and the Prime Minister, David Cameron.
This is the seventh Queen’s Award win for Siemens Magnet Technology. The business has received Queen’s Awards in recognition of its high-tech achievements, export success, innovation and contribution to the development of MRI technology.

The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are highly prestigious awards for outstanding achievement by UK businesses in the categories of Innovation, International Trade and Sustainable Development. The awards are made annually by HM The Queen, and are only given for the highest levels of excellence demonstrated in each category. They are judged to a demanding level and winners receive a number of benefits and worldwide recognition.
More than a third of all MRI scanners installed in hospitals around the world have at their heart a superconducting magnet designed and manufactured by SMT in Eynsham, Oxford.
In addition to it technological excellence, Siemens Magnet Technology is also recognised as a world leader for its process innovation and acts as a UK centre of excellence. This excellence notably resulted in the Best Factory Awards in 2010.
