Siemens gas turbine manufacturing and service business in Lincoln is celebrating
the efforts of its employees in generating another strong half year of giving to local
charities. The company’s Charity and Donations Committee was established in 2012
to manage the annual budget allocated by the business to assist local charities. In
the last six months the committee has agreed to donations totalling over £7,000.
Since the committee was established it has donated over £27,000 to local causes.
Some of the charities to benefit from the recent donations include Leukemia & Lymphoma
Research, Neurocare, the Navenby Ward at Lincolnshire County Hospital, Lincoln
District Scouts, Lincolnshire Employment Accommodation Project, Abbey Access
Centre and the Lincoln and Lindsey Blind Society.
In addition to committee donations, employees themselves have also raised nearly
£2,000 through dress down days over the last six months for Children in Need,
Action Medical Research, Wear it Pink for Breast Cancer and Ramp up the Red for
the British Heart Foundation.
Siemens has also made special donations of £2,000 to the Lincolnshire Air
Ambulance in September to mark its own achievement of 100 days without a lost
time case across the whole of Siemens business in Lincoln and £2,500 as matched
donations for employees taking part in the Lincoln Santa Fun Run.
Nick Muntz, managing director of Siemens in Lincoln said: “We are really delighted
with what has been achieved in the last few years for local charitable and
community causes. As one of the largest private employers in Lincoln we take our
role in the community very seriously and have really embedded this as part of our
culture and sense of corporate citizenship. The Committee was established to
formalise our approach to donations and respond to the many request we get for
support. Our employees contribute to the work of the Committee but also in their
own ways to support other charities. We look forward to building on this success and
I thank everyone for the work they have done to date.”
