London, 2017-Oct-04
His appointment with the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering will see Graeme contribute to a series of lectures and asses coursework for students on the MSc Civil Engineering course this academic year.
For the last two years, Mr Clark has been participating in the department’s lecture series as a volunteer, however today’s announcement formalises his relationship with the university.
Mr Clark’s continued contribution to the course will help educate another cohort of engineering students about rolling stock within a module looking at the ‘Planning, Policies & Organisation of the Railways in the UK’.
The module aims to provide students on the course with an understanding of railway planning, management, engineering and operations, both in the UK and internationally. Mr Clark’s lectures will look at Siemens’ leading work on rolling stock as well as provide a wider introduction to different variations of trains.
The series of lectures, for Masters students at UCL, culminates in a rail-related piece of coursework, which will be assessed by the Honorary Lecturers, including Mr Clark.
Graeme Clark, Head of Business Development (Rolling Stock) for the Rail Systems at Siemens UK, said: “I was delighted to be asked to join UCL as an Honorary Lecturer. I have really enjoyed the experience so far, and it is a real privilege to be involved. It’s great to be able to help the next generation, just as so many people have helped me over the years.”
Dr Taku Fujiyama, Senior Lecturer for Transport Studies of University College London, said: “We think teaching is one way to bring in innovations to the UK rail industry, and Mr Clark will lead one of our initiatives. In addition to his rich professional expertise as a rolling stock engineer, he has proven experience as a university educator. We are delighted to strengthen our ties with Mr Clark and look forward to more opportunities to work with him.”
