The Bohunt STEM Festival which took place this weekend was focused on exciting
the next generation of young people and the wider community about the wealth
of opportunities and careers available within the STEM (science, technology,
engineering and mathematics) industries. The Festival is a free event for the whole
community and this year 13 companies and educational establishments including
Siemens, Mclaren, BP, Intech, Allianz and many others took part.

At this year’s festival the Siemens team, including STEM Ambassadors, graduates
and senior representatives from the oil and gas sectors, engaged attendees in the
STEM agenda through various interactive games, such as ‘The Island Game’, ‘The
Lean Machine’ and the new ‘Build a Body Healthcare’ game. The Siemens team
was also on hand to talk to people about career opportunities within Siemens related
to STEM subjects.

Neil Strowger, Headteacher at Bohunt School said:

“Bohunt is committed to providing an outstanding education for the local community. It does this through its results, which place it as one of the top 30 non-selective schools nationally, but also through its commitment to the community and the aspirations of its students. The STEM Festival was a fantastic free event, which was fun for all ages, but also had a serious educational point. We are grateful for our links with companies such as Siemens for not only inspiring students in one off events, but supporting us in establishing a challenging and exciting STEM curriculum.”

Elaine Savins from Siemens Energy sector said:

“Everyone had a super day at the Festival which was focused entirely on STEM
subjects and all of the many possible career opportunities that can be pursued.
There was a good turn out of students and local people, as well as engineering
companies on hand to talk about the many different options available. At Siemens
we are really passionate about engaging the next generation and it is at events like
this that we are able to do this.”

Siemens plays a key role in engineering skills and training in the UK nationally and
