Presenting the awards at the annual gala dinner, Lord Risby, president of the CHPA, said:
“We should be proud of the impact that CHP and district heating have in ensuring that some of the most vulnerable in our society have access to secure and affordable sources of heat”.
Lord Risby acknowledged Mike Rolls as a longstanding advocate of combined heat and power and district heating.
Dr Tim Rotheray, director, CHPA said:
“Mike has been a dedicated supporter of both CHP and district heating during his long established career. Over his career, Mike has witnessed the huge change in the energy system from state ownership through to privatisation, and the new challenges of emissions and the climate change debate. Throughout this time, and with a consistently calm and measured manner, Mike has expounded the virtues of maximizing cost effectiveness and efficiency of energy use, in particular through the use of CHP.”
Receiving the award Mike Rolls said:
“I was surprised and absolutely delighted to receive this award from the CHPA. I have been involved in CHP projects for more than 30 years and firmly believe that this represents the best use of our fuel resources from an economic as well as an environmental point of view. To be recognised in this way by my colleagues in the industry is a huge honour.”
Siemens offers gas and steam turbine generators, controls and other electrical equipment to gas fired, biomass and waste to energy CHP plants.
