Siemens best-in-class in Dow Jones Sustainability Index

Siemens AG has once again been named the best company in its class in the prestigious Dow Jones and SAM Sustainability ranking, again capturing the No. 1 spot in the sector Diversified Industrials of the Sustainability World Index (DJSI) - a sector that includes 3M, General Electric and Toshiba.

This is the eleventh time in a row that Siemens has been honored by Dow Jones analysts for its sustainable activities. This year's overall result of 85 (prior year 82) points is the best the company has ever achieved.

"For us, as the largest supplier of environmental technologies, sustainability does not only mean new business opportunities; it also obligates us, as a company, to be a pioneer. That's why we're proud to have been recognized by the DJSI. But we also consider this distinction an incentive not to relax our efforts" said Barbara Kux, the member of Siemens' Managing Board responsible for Supply Chain Management and Sustainability. In addition to the economic and social dimension, Siemens is focusing, in particular, on expanding its Environmental Portfolio, reducing emissions and using ever-scarcer natural resources sparingly and responsibly.

Siemens has set itself the goal of generating revenue of 25billion Euros in fiscal 2011 through its Environmental Portfolio. The company will exceed this goal a year earlier than planned.
