A five-year contract extension has been agreed with ScotRail, which will see the Technical Support & Spares Supply Agreement (TSSSA) run until December 2026. The contract will ensure the provision of Siemens Mobility’s engineering and maintenance expertise to ScotRail, enabling the continuity of the operator’s reliable service.
Commenting on the contract extension, Sambit Banerjee, Managing Director of Rolling Stock and Customer Services for Siemens Mobility in the UK, said: “We are delighted to have agreed another contract extension with ScotRail, continuing our strong partnership for another five years.
“Our staff in Glasgow have been committed to providing an industry leading service over the last decade and, as critical workers, have been outstanding during the pandemic to ensure ScotRail services are maintained, keeping the nation moving.
“As we look towards easing travel restrictions, we are committed to helping ScotRail provide excellent passenger service for everyone, whether they are taking a daily commute or travelling for leisure.“

The 38 trains in the Class 380 ScotRail fleet have travelled almost 50 million miles over the last ten years, enabling 125 million passenger journeys. The contract extension is a testament to the reliability of the fleet as well as the outstanding skills and dedication of the maintenance staff at the Shields depot. This is the second time that ScotRail have agreed to extend this contract and this latest five-year extension is a great credit to the strong relationship between ScotRail and Siemens Mobility.
Twenty-one Siemens Mobility employees stationed at the Shields depot in Glasgow will continue to ensure the Class 380 fleet achieves optimum performance and reliability by performing expert technical, commercial, materials, logistics and service delivery. This provides ScotRail passengers with high quality and reliability for their journeys.
