Salford Royal’s new interventional imaging system boosts capacity and lowers dose

Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust has recently installed an Artis zeeTM Multi-purpose (MP) from Siemens Healthcare. The interventional imaging system was selected for its dose-saving CARE (Combined Applications to Reduce Exposure) and CLEAR (advanced image post-processing) features, which is delivered as standard, along with its ability to image bariatric patients with ease.

The system, which sits in the Fluoroscopy Suite, is mainly being used for specialist procedures such as Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography (ERCP), gastro-intestinal imaging and interventional procedures. It has also increased capacity for joint injections and arthrograms. The system’s increased weight allowance also allows bariatric patients to be imaged, which was not always possible with the previous system.

The Artis zee MP offers rapid image acquisition and post-processing capabilities, helping to improve departmental workflow. It is suited to interventional procedures and features high-contrast resolution to improve accuracy during image-guided procedures at a low dose. In addition to the low dose acquisition, the Artis zee MP offers high quality diagnostic images and its ergonomically designed controls enable users to operate it smoothly and easily.

Lisa Lyon, Lead GI Radiographer at Salford Royal, said: “Staff have found the system easy to use. Patients have also commented on its less daunting appearance and the increased comfort of the Artis zee.”

“The addition of an Artis zee MP from Siemens Healthcare is just one example of how Salford Royal takes patient safety and comfort very seriously; the installation has expanded fluoroscopy services to a wider variety of patients,” states John Brady, Regional Sales Manager at Siemens Healthcare. “The system is suitable for performing a broad range of examinations at a low dose, helping to improve workflow through its ease of use and precise image-guided technology.”
