ACUSON S2000 from Siemens Healthcare gives clinicians access to improved imaging forsports injury assessment

Frimley, 2013-Jan-03

Chapel Allerton Hospital in Leeds has installed a state-of-the-art ACUSON S2000™ ultrasound system from Siemens Healthcare. The system is being used for scans on sports injuries, including tendon assessments and ultrasound-guided intervention. The patients are from a number of professional sports clubs both nationally and around the Yorkshire region.

The ACUSON S2000 is a premier imaging system from Siemens Healthcare and can be reliably used in a broad range of imaging procedures. It was selected by Chapel Allerton for its shear wave functionality to provide strain analysis of muscle and tendons which assist with investigations and diagnosis. This technique utilises the applications of eSie Touch™ for compression elasticity imaging and Virtual Touch Quantification™ using Acoustic Radiation Force Impulse (ARFI) technology to quantify stiffness.

“One of the primary reasons behind the ACUSON S2000 acquisition was our desire for high quality 2D imaging, together with shear wave elastography,” said Dr Philip O’Connor, Consultant Radiologist at Chapel Allerton Hospital. “The latest iteration of the S2000 system has taken a significant step forward in image quality, putting Siemens Healthcare at the top of the pecking order for ultrasound imaging systems.”

“We are delighted Chapel Allerton Hospital has continued its strong relationship with Siemens Healthcare through the installation of the ACUSON S2000,” said Peter Downing, Regional Sales Manager at Siemens Healthcare. “The system is delivering very good imaging to clinicians making assessments on sports injuries - we look forward to continuing our ties to the hospital and its expanding services in the future.”
