London Anchor Institutions’ Network launch Siemens-backed supply chain mentoring programme for SMEs

  • Supply Chain Mentoring Programme to be delivered in strategic partnership with London Anchor Institutions’ Network, Siemens Mobility, and Willmott Dixon Interiors, with the backing of the Mayor of London.
  • The aim of the programme is to provide practical workshops and 1:1 mentoring to strengthen bid writing, social value delivery and access to contract opportunities.

A new supply chain mentoring programme has been launched to support London-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in strengthening their capabilities and improving their readiness to secure public and private sector contracts. The initiative is being led by the London Anchor Institutions’ Network (LAIN) in partnership with Siemens and Willmott Dixon and backed by the Greater London Authority and the Mayor of London.

Marko Feulner, Chair of the Board and CFO for Siemens Mobility UK&I said:

“Siemens Mobility is committed to strengthening local supply chains and creating opportunities for businesses right here in Britain. By sharing insight and expertise gained from working across complex rail infrastructure and rolling stock projects, we aim to help SMEs build resilience and competitiveness in tendering and contract delivery as we continue to transform rail travel and transport for everyone.”

Participating businesses have been selected through a competitive application process, with the programme officially kicking off on Wednesday, 25 March. The six-month programme will support up to 12 London-based SMEs with tailored workshops and mentoring that focus on bid writing, demonstrating social value, and accessing contract opportunities. The selected businesses will also benefit from up to two personalised 1:1 mentoring sessions with Siemens Mobility and Willmott Dixon Interiors supply chain professionals.

The programme will provide up to 90 minutes of support each month, combining interactive workshops with practical guidance, insights into procurement expectations, and targeted mentoring. Participants will gain deeper understanding of essential market engagement strategies, how to evidence and deliver social value, and ways to enhance their bid submissions.

Howard Dawber OBE, Deputy Mayor for Business & Growth said:

“Through the London Anchor Institutions’ Network - supported by the Mayor of London - leading organisations across the capital are working together to open up new opportunities for small and diverse businesses.

“I am delighted that Transport for London and the London Fire Brigade have partnered with Siemens Mobility and Willmott Dixon Interiors to support SMEs in accessing public sector supply chains. This programme reflects LAIN’s mission to build a fairer, greener and more prosperous London, while supporting our commitments as part of the London Growth Plan to expand access to contract opportunities for small and diverse businesses.”

This new mentoring programme forms part of Siemens Mobility’s broader engagement to support responsible procurement and sustainable supplier development across the UK, aligning with its commitment to local economic impact and inclusive growth.
