This state-of-the-art equipment which combines a cutting-edge CT scanner with HD•PET technologies will result in earlier detection and greater accuracy in treating cancer, heart disease and certain neurological diseases, including dementia.
The Daisy Appeal is a charity based in East Yorkshire, established to help improve treatment and research opportunities in a variety of common diseases, most notably cancer and heart disease.
Having successfully raised £8 million to enable the construction of a Medical Research Centre at Castle Hill Hospital in 2008, the Daisy Appeal has now moved onto Phase 2 of the Appeal and looking to raise a further £4.5 million to purchase PET-CT Scanning equipment.
The PET/CT scanner will be housed along with a Cyclotron in a purpose built facility at Castle Hill Hospital. This will provide a unique way of delivering top class scanning to the community. A second cyclotron will be based at the University for the use of scientists to develop new disease markers and drug treatments.

Thanks to the Daisy Appeal, research and treatment facilities for people in the Hull and East Yorkshire region are now greatly improved and with the addition of this equipment, the Hospitals Trust and University will be the first in Yorkshire to provide advanced imaging facilities directly linked to an ongoing scientific research programme.
