Health, safety and environmental management ‘double’ global honour for Siemens Mobility

  • Siemens Mobility one of just seven organisations worldwide to receive double award from British Safety Council
  • Accolades follow maximum five-star safety audit rating

Siemens Mobility Limited has won prestigious Sword of Honour and Globe of Honour awards from the British Safety Council for its electrification business segment – one of just seven organisations worldwide to win the ‘double’. The accolades are given to businesses that have demonstrated excellence in health, safety and environmental (HSE) risk management.

To be considered for the awards the organisation first had to achieve the maximum five stars in the British Safety Council’s HSE management audit scheme. It has also demonstrated HSE excellence – from the shop floor to the boardroom – to an independent panel of experts.

Lawrence Waterman, Chairman of the British Safety Council, said: “On behalf of the board of trustees and staff of the British Safety Council I would like to congratulate Siemens Mobility Limited on achieving the topmost standards of health, safety and environmental management.  Accomplishing such distinction takes real commitment and professionalism. We are delighted to have supported you in your achievements in what has been an unprecedented year given the COVID pandemic.”

Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, added: “I would like to congratulate Siemens Mobility and its staff for their steadfast dedication to keeping their workplace safe and healthy and/or minimising risks to the environment from their organisations’ day-to-day activities. This year presented an additional and significant challenge in the form of COVID-19 and I pay tribute to Siemens Mobility Limited for its hard work and commitment through these challenging circumstances.

“All of the Sword and Globe winning organisations share a commitment and resolve to achieve the uppermost standards of health, safety and environmental management. We are delighted that they are partners in helping achieve our vision that no-one should be injured or made ill through their work.”

Shaun Cooper, Managing Director Electrification for Siemens Mobility Limited, concluded: “This really is a fabulous result. It’s a great set of accolades for our business and testament to the hard work of all our people day in, day out – congratulations to you all!

“Working safely and managing risk is not an option, it is essential, and can mean the difference between life and death. Equally important, focusing on environmental protection and sustainability is something that is integral to the way we work. It’s very clear, we can all make a difference if we try hard enough. Thank you to the British Safety Council for recognising our efforts.”
