Lincoln, UK, 2017-May-23
Following the announcement last month, Siemens is delighted that construction of its new state-of-the-art 7,000 square metre facility is underway.
Wednesday 17th May, marked the official ground-breaking at the Teal Park site in line with the project schedule.
Commenting on this important milestone for Siemens in Lincoln, Neil Corner, Managing Director, Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery Limited, said, “Lincoln is a great place to invest for our business. We have been at Teal Park for 4 years and in line with our original plan, we have now started construction of the new Global Service Operations Centre. This investment will enable us to further improve our customer responsiveness and optimise our infrastructure to be ready for future growth.”
Located next to Siemens’ existing Teal Park overhaul facility, the new Global Service Operations Centre will help to improve efficiency by having everything in close proximity such as spare parts, turbine engine units, tooling and safety equipment.
Clive Cox, Head of Project Management Office said, “It’s fantastic to start on site. I am pleased and fortunate to be involved in the further development of the Teal Park site. This development will enable a positive step change in the logistics performance of the business.”
James Avery, Project Manager, Siemens Real Estate Building Solutions added,
“Following a significant amount of work between all parties involved over the last year, it is great to now see the start of construction. We are pleased to have selected Simons Group, a Lincoln-based contractor to help us deliver this exciting project, which will hopefully be of benefit to the local economy.”
Andrew Walker, Project Manager from the Simons Group, is overseeing the project, and commented: “Being selected to deliver this project has been a major addition to Simons’ Group local portfolio. We are delighted to work with Siemens to successfully deliver the project and to develop what we hope will be a long-term working relationship.”
The project will be complete by January 2018 and be fully operational by Spring 2018.
Further information will follow as the project progresses.
