The presentation was made by Gregory Barker MP, Minister of State for Climate Change and Stephen Watson, Chairman of the BGA, at a ceremony hosted in the House of Lords.
The Medal is awarded annually to an individual who has made an outstanding and sustained contribution to British-German relations. Previous recipients of the Medal have included the late former Prime Minister, Sir Edward Heath; the former German Chancellor, Helmut Schmidt; the then UK Foreign Secretary, Douglas Hurd, and former UK Chancellor of the Exchequer and President of the European Commission, Lord Jenkins.
Stephen Watson, Chairman of the British-German Association, said;
“Andreas Goss has made a remarkable and hugely important contribution to the relationship enjoyed between Britain and Germany. It’s fair to say that Andreas is one of the UK’s biggest fans and as the German chief executive of one of the UK’s largest employers, he has demonstrated a sustained commitment and enthusiasm for life and business in the UK. His support of the work of the British-German Association has also been generous and significant.
The Executive Committee of the British-German Association is delighted to be able to recognise his work and support through the presentation of the Association’s highest accolade, our Medal of Honour.”
