Frimley, UK, 2016-Feb-11
Based in London, supply chain partners including Siemens have identified that many of the personnel who are leaving the Services have useful skills that can be transferred to the transport sector which has a shortfall of skilled engineering and planning staff.
Having already recruited a number of ex-military staff and with a wide range of engineering vacancies across the UK, Siemens representatives will be on hand to highlight the work it has been doing as part of the Career Transition Partnership to attract new people into the business.
In the last 12 months, the company has recruited almost 100 ex-military staff to a range of engineering positions across the UK and appointed 50 former Armed forces staff to jobs in the company’s Mobility Division incorporating Rail Systems, Rail Automation and Traffic Solutions in the UK. Currently, there are 295 vacancies across the Mobility Division including 29 positions in Traffic Solutions.
During the Industry Day there will be opportunities for attendees to speak to people who have attended previous events and are now working within the transport industry. This includes a range of people, from those working out on-street to Project Managers and Train Drivers. Part of the day will be spent with an operational team to gain an understanding of the tasks being undertaken to keep London moving and site visits. There will also be CV and interview workshops facilitated by recruitment teams who recruit people from day-to-day.
At the end of the event, the closing address will be made by Gordon Wakeford, Head of Siemens’ Mobility Division.
